Portillo.

Someday, we might make it down to Portillo, Chile for some skiing and amazing views from inside the crater. That's right, the whole resort is inside of a dormant, lake-filled volcano. Imagine waking up with this view out your window...Pretty wild.

Right Angle.

I am so tempted to throw a couple of angular windows into the cabin reno. Problem is, they can look too "generic mountain cabin" in the wrong context. If we were to do it, it would be in an attempt to go a bit '70's modern, referencing Tahoe's building boom in an ironic way. This would probably mean a less symmetrical approach -- more like this one slit window in a white room than a full peak of windows.*

*p.s. the rest of this house is pretty amazing too. Love the absence of window trim...

Wow. This is the living room that haunts my dreams. Isn't it perfect? Huge windows, vintage stove, dark ceiling and texture everywhere...

Eyes Wide Open

They say the windows are the eyes of a home, which is just another reason to go for the biggest windows possible, especially if you are surrounded by beautiful green foliage. I want to live in this home.
