I've been fascinated by this project by James Turrell for years now. Roden Crater is an extinct volcano in the Arizona desert that Turrell is slowly and meticulously transforming into a monumental work of art and naked eye observatory. Like most of his work, this project will be interactive, connecting the viewer's position on earth with light installations and celestial phenomena.

Turrell has been working on this project for over 30 years, and the dedication alone is enough to marvel at. Here he is below:
