Ladies Alpine Club.

In 1907, Elizabeth Hawkins-Whitshed became the first president of the Ladies Alpine Club. She wrote seven books on mountain climbing and over her lifetime climbed twenty peaks that no one had climbed before. Can you imagine what winter exploration was like in 1907? And in a bonnet and dress?!

Good Fire.

Someday -- not in this round of construction -- we will have a fireplace at the cabin. Here are some of my favorites.

A Collector.

The Greek home of Alketas Pazis, a collector of all things design from the 1900‘s – 1950’s. I so admire the passion that he brings to his space — just lovely. More about Alketas's collections — and more photos—

Missing the Woods...

With the Cabin under serious construction, we have missed out on the entire Fall in Tahoe. I've been craving the crispness in the air, the smell of fires and rain at sunset. And knowing there are bears everywhere.

Playing with Flowers.

I'm off to my favorite place in the world (and hometown...yeah, I know) this week to play with flowers with some talented ladies who really know their flowers. I can't believe I get to tag along with this group of combined amazingness...They are going to form like Voltron and sprinkle flower pixie dust all over that mountain town, and I get to watch the magic unfold...

I Like This.

What a great way to display all of the amazing art I have collected over the years. Now it just sits in my basement because I'm so afraid of clutter, but this would be perfect.

Back to Basics.

I've been feeling a change of tide lately in society. It doesn't seem to have fully manifested yet, but there seems to be an increased electrical charge in the air, a pull away from one phase and into another, like shifting tectonic plates. Capitalism and living excessively is a waning trend.

I feel it in my own life as well; a desire for simplicity and nostalgia for a time when there were less responsibilities and more time for doing whatever you want.

This passage on Bohemia is inspiring, though I know myself well enough to know the nervousness I would inevitably feel without any kind of security net.

This interview with Joel Salatin about Slow Living in the current issue of Dumbo Feather is pretty awesome too.

Just Because...

White Oak

Been feeling white oak lately. There is something soothing about it's cool tone and light shade.
